Pupils at Thackley Primary school have been getting creative as a way to raise awareness of fire safety in the community.
Pupils were tasked with designing a reimagined Bradford City AFC club crest, adding their own colourful spins on the iconic badge. These designs were then illustrated with informative text on the Valley Parade Fire Disaster.
The posters aim to raise awareness of the impacts and consequences of fire hazards and the importance of fire safety, whilst also maintaining the memory of those who were, and continue to be, affected by the fire.
The BCFC Community Foundation team have created a shortlist of three posters (above). We invite all of our community members to head over to our Twitter account to vote for their favourite design.
The winning poster design will be used as inspiration for a new educational resource which will be displayed in the BCFC Community Foundation office, and distributed to schools across the district with the aim of educating children and young people on fire safety.
Each artist behind the shortlisted posters will receive a prize, with the winner of our poll receiving a football signed by Bradford City AFC players.
If you would like to donate to the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU), founded by Professor David Sharpe following the fire in 1985, you can do so on our website here.
